The Peak
Right in front of the resort, the Peak is the heartbeat of your surf trip, a consistent, high-performance A-frame that works on all tides. Mornings here are magic: the sun rising over glassy water and that perfect moment when lefts and rights start firing in sync. Whether you’re looking to tuck into a clean barrel, hit that first turn with speed, or just enjoy the simple rhythm of wave after wave rolling through, The Peak delivers. It’s playful and powerful, accessible for intermediate surfers yet still holds up when things get serious. Watch it from your balcony, time your paddle-outs between coffee sips, and surf it till your arms give out. The Peak is your front yard, your playground, and your reason to stay longer than you planned.
Dylan’s
Dylan’s Right is a dreamy, reeling point break that serves up long, rippable walls and beautifully wrapping sections. A favourite for intermediate to advanced surfers, it offers endless playful lines with enough power to keep things exciting. Whether you’re chasing your first clean barrel or cruising down silky shoulders with room to carve, this wave invites flow, style, and big smiles from start to finish.
Monkey Trees
In front of the jungle-fringed corner of the island, Monkey Trees feels like a scene straight out of a surf film. This consistent left-hand break delivers punchy, playful peaks that can offer barrels or open turns depending on the swell and tide. With its wild backdrop and fun, dynamic wave, Monkey Trees is the kind of spot that stays in your memory long after the session ends.
Tea Bag
Tea Bag is a freight-train hollow right built for advanced and confident surfers only. Fast, shallow, and breaking over sharp reef, this wave demands commitment and rewards it with heavy, adrenaline-filled barrels. Not for the faint of heart but for those ready to step up, it’s an unforgettable ride.
Thailand’s Left
Thailand’s Left is a big-shouldered, easygoing wave that delivers fun for surfers of all levels. Its forgiving walls make it ideal for relaxed sessions, smooth cruising turns, practicing cutbacks, and building confidence. On the right tide and swell, the wave comes alive with playful barrels, adding an extra layer of excitement for those ready to step it up. Set in a stunning location with clear, inviting water, it’s also the perfect spot to snorkel between surfs.
How many people will I be surfing with?
Simeulue Island is perhaps the least crowded destination in Sumatra. We are fortunate enough to have waves all around the island, including The Peak out front, barreling reef breaks, fun beachies, and mellow reef breaks. There are waves to suit all levels of surfers and to keep the numbers down. Locals don’t surf (yet!) and charter boats do not visit the area.
What kind of surfboards should I bring?
You should bring whatever you are comfortable riding when the waves are good back home. A normal shortboard plus a semi-step-up quad will treat you well. If you like to ride a fish or a longboard, that’s okay too, there are spots for all kinds of boards. Be sure to bring a ding repair kit and extra boards as it’s easy to snap one out here. Think about bringing a board with heavier glassing.
With regards to getting your boards on the airplane, the procedure is roundabout and makes little sense, but hey, it’s Indonesia. Please allow enough time to check your boards in, and make your way through the check-in process, which changes constantly. As of recent, you have to check-in and they withhold your passport and ticket until you walk across the terminal to pay for your surfboards and RECEIVE A RECEIPT, and then walk the boards even further to the oversized luggage area. After completing these two tasks, please return to the original check-in counter, and show your receipt to receive your passport and ticket.
Can my board be repaired on Simeulue?
Yes, there are ding repair services available from the resort.
What happens if my boards don’t make it?
We seldom have this problem, but if so they come to Simeulue the flight the next day. We have boards for rent during this kind of scenario.
Is there a photographer available on my trip?
Subject to availability, yes.
